Dealing With A Long Smoking History
A smoking history can be a hard thing to deal with if you are trying to quit. We always see those few people who are able to quit seemingly with no problems but that is not the way it happens for everyone. A lot of people have the willpower to just drop that cigarette pack and vow never to smoke again. For the casual smokers it may not be so hard because they just smoke here and there and are not addicted smokers.
If you are a regular smoker you are probably going to have a pretty tough time quitting. Just because you may have a long smoking history however, that does not mean that you cannot get over this habit and start to live a healthier life. It is going to be so worth it to go through it and quit smoking because you will look and feel so much better. Now if you have decided you do want to quit, the best method of quitting you can choose is cold turkey.
This means that you will just up and quit and when you do it this way you have a much better chance of staying smoke free in the future. You do not have to feel bad if you want to skip the cold turkey idea and get some help with kicking the habit. Joining a support group is a great way to get started. When you have people around you to talk to and who are going through a struggle just like yours, it makes it a lot easier to cope and stick to it.
You will always have support when you need it and people to fall back on and give you that push when you are trying to ignore your cravings. Therapy sessions can also be helpful, mainly by helping you to relieve stress and then you will not need to use cigarettes as a crutch so much anymore. A lot of people rely on stop smoking aids to help them get through this, such as the stop smoking gum or the nicotine patch. With gum or patch you are slowly decreasing the amount of nicotine going into your body, rather than taking it away all at once.
